Monode-Sign Tactus

Tactus from Monode Sign is a four-quadrant XY controller that uses Hall Effect mechanical keyswitches to create a unique gestural CV interface. Instead of reading binary on/off states of the four centrally located switches, the module measures the distance each button travels. Each button includes an individual gate and CV output, and the position and pressure of all four affect the X, Y, and Z outputs. Thresh sets the point where the module translates a keypress into a gate output, providing dynamic sensitivity to the gate outputs. Range, slew and curve work together to influence the CV outputs. Range attenuates all seven CV outputs. CV X and CV Y output bipolar CV that correspond to the horizontal and vertical pressure of each button on the XY grid. CV Z sums the position of all four keyswitches, reading the up/down pressure on the Z axis. Slew smoothes the CV outputs, while Curve determines how the slew behaves. Linear smoothing takes a constant amount of time to travel from one value to the next. Logarithmic and exponential curves add easing to the movement, speeding up and slowing down at different rates. While a joystick provides a single point of control, the four buttons of Monode-Sign's Tactus work in tandem, putting a new kind of multidimensional expressive control at your fingertips.
