Mu-Tron Multi-Tron

Multi-Tron is a dual filter pedal from Mu-Tron, built around a versatile state-variable design and wired to offer a wide range of routing states and interaction modes. Like the Mu-Tron III before it, Multi-Tron employs optically controlled filter sweeping, though here the LEDs can also be driven by a microprocessor, which makes sample-and-hold behavior possible. Split symmetrically between the left and right sides of the enclosure, VCF A and VCF B carry mirroring sets of controls. Three toggle switches sit up top: Mode selects between lowpass, bandpass and highpass outputs, Range adapts the filter's input sensitivity to weaker or fuller signal sources, and Drive sets the direction of the envelope sweep.

Right below are Peak and Gain, adjusting filter resonance and envelope sensitivity respectively, followed by a three-position Sweep switch that selects between three control voltage sources for the cutoff—envelope follower, random voltage or expression—all, of course, per channel. In the center of the pedal is a Rate control for the speed of the random voltage generator, which doubles as the floor of the rate range when an expression pedal is connected. Above it is a three-position toggle that changes the routing between parallel, series and stereo processing.

Altogether, Multi-Tron simply provides more of what Mu-Tron is known for: liquidy psychedelic wah and auto-filter that doubles the funk of whatever you run through it.
