Beam Splitter V2 Trereo Distortion Pedal
Old Blood Noise Endeavors Beam Splitter V2
The Beam Splitter V2 from Old Blood Noise Endeavors is a triple distortion pedal with two delay lines and individual outputs for each stage, enabling diverse distortion tones that provide unique characters in any rig. What made the original Beam Splitter so popular was that it came as an answer to a very specific question that only a pedal company like Old Blood Noise Endeavors could sense in the air—what if instead of tracking a guitar three times to get that coveted fat sound, there was a pedal that did it? Beam Splitter proved to be more than a satisfying outcome of this inquiry, offering three overdrive voices in parallel with two of them delayed against the third, and introducing a clever "trereo" routing configuration where each drive gets its own output for independent processing. Now Beam Splitter is back in V2.
The new version brings a range of tune-ups. The layout has been revamped: a trio of controls per drive—Gain, Volume, and Tone—sits neatly across the top, while delay Time and Feedback, a Preset button, Deviate, the new Spread, and the equally new Delay Select (for choosing which two drives are delayed) are spread along the middle of the stompbox. OBNE have also revoiced the third drive for greater range and brought the noise floor down.
The V2 update brings real improvements to control and connectivity. The three soft-touch footswitches at the bottom either toggle individual drives or cycle through presets. There's MIDI control over every parameter, expression control over every main knob, and presets both onboard (three) and over MIDI (up to 127)—all of which is possible because the drives, analog as they are, are digitally controlled. The outputs have been reconfigured too, now covering mono, mono-to-stereo with Spread setting the width, and mono-to-trereo, with a stereo input that collapses to mono internally when the pedal is engaged. If you're looking for tremendous tones in triplicate to capture the rich sound of overdubbed guitars, OBNE's Beam Splitter V2 is a fantastic tool sure to beam its way into your heart.
